Endowment Policy Buyers
A buyer of endowment policies is only looking for with profits endowments and not unit linked policies.
Endowment buyers operate through endowment policy traders. The endowment traders act as middle men, who introduce the details of the endowment sellers policies so that the buyer can make a decision on whether the individual policy is attractive enough, as an ongoing investment to pay cash for it, a figure which will be over and above the life offices surrender value.
The traded endowments are then continued by the new owner until maturity and the new owner receives the payout. If the original owner dies before the maturity date the new owner collects the death benefit.
The endowment traders are approached by pension and investment fund managers, as well as private individuals, on a daily basis to see what the endowment market has got on offer at that time. It can be the case that an endowment buyer may not decide to purchase an individual policy at the time, but may well return, or a new buyer be found, if the policy looks a better bet at a later date (due to added bonuses or future economic outlook) so it can be worth re offering the endowment policy at a later date if the initial reaction is negative.
Endowment buyers, at the time of writing, have taken a bit of a back seat and some traders have drastically reduced their activity due to the recession, but this is expected to improve once the future of the world economy is more predictable.
Selling endowmentSelling endowment to one of only six endowment policy traders that are members of the Association of Policy Market Makers, can be achieved by using the "sell endowment" link at the top of the page, or by clicking here
